Yo pisaré las calles nuevamente (I Will Once Again Walk the Streets)
Original lyrics by Pablo Milanés (Cuba, b. 1943)
Translation by LFC

I will once again walk the streets
of what was bloody Santiago
and, in a beautiful liberated square,
will stop and cry for the departed.

I will come from the scorching desert
and come out of the forests and the lakes,
and evoke in a Santiago hill
my brothers who died before.

I, joined with he who did much and little,
with he who wants the Fatherland to be free,
will fire the first bullets
sooner rather than later, without rest.

The books will return, the songs
that the assassin hands burned.
My people will revive from its ruins
and the traitors will pay for their guilt.

A boy will play in a grove
and sing with his new friends,
and that song will be the song of the soil
to a life slain in La Moneda.

I will once again walk the streets
of what was bloody Santiago
and, in a beautiful liberated square,
will stop and cry for the departed.
